Deputy Chief Rick Wigle joined the Medicine Hat Police Service in 1987 after serving five years with the Correctional Service of Canada as a Living Unit Officer, stationed at the Drumheller Institution.

Since joining the Medicine Hat Police Service, Deputy Wigle has worked in a variety of areas including: Patrols, Training, Communications, Drug Enforcement, Criminal Intelligence and Professional Standards.

Deputy Wigle works collaboratively with members of the Executive Team, Service leaders and community partners to ensure: the execution of the strategic plan; financial stewardship of public money and effective and efficient service to the community.

Deputy Wigle believes “The test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it.”, as stated by the father of modern policing, Sir Robert Peel.
