2000 - 2002 OPERATING PLAN
 
During 1999 and 2000 The Department has Completed:
1. Contracted with Versaterm for the RMS Project and successful implementation of a comprehensive project plan.
2. Successful implementation of a new dog control bylaw.
3. Maintained a crime clearance rate well above the national average. Maintained adequate response to public calls for service while incurring a reduction in staff of three police officers who could not be replaced within the 2000 budget.
4. Participated in the design and development of the city's Disability Management Program as a means of effective utilization of resources and expenditures.
5. Professional Standards NCO completed a comprehensive Administrative & Operational audit of: Property Control, Victim Assistance, Reception & Traffic front counter operations. Definitive action plans were developed and initiated.
6. Successful targeted investigations of organized criminal activity within the city & surrounding region, ie. Drugs, weapons, B&E's, Stolen Property Fencing.
7. Established a mediation component to resolve Police Act complaints.

WITHIN THE NEXT THREE YEARS WE WANT TO ACHIEVE:
=> Development & implementation of a formalized community policing plan
=> Conduct a review of the structure and duties of the Criminal Investigation Section.
=> Feasibility review of in-house basic training program and Provincial Single Site Initiative and
=> Provincial Recruitment & Training Standards systems.
=> Full utilization of the Records Management System components including the integration of in-car Mobile
Display Terminals (MDT)
=> Continued expansion of the audit process as it relates to policy, procedure, and service delivery compliance.
=" Organization of a more formalized but individual fitness & wellness program designed to encourage & recognize
personal fitness.
