1. How do I pay a parking ticket?
a. Parking tags (small white one left on your windshield) is payable at the front counter of the Medicine Hat Police Station from 8 AM - 5:30 PM. After hours there is a drop off box in the front entranceway. Exact change required. City Hall cashiers also accept payment for parking tags at City Hall during regular business hours.
b. Parking ticket ( long yellow form - received in the mail ) Payable at any provincial court house in the province of Alberta during their normal office hours.
2. My vehicle was impounded. How do I get it back?
The Owner must attend to WILLIE'S TOWING compound (949 17 STREET SW phone; 548-2002) with proof of ownership. Vehicle will be released to owner upon payment of any towing and storage fees.
3. My pet was impounded. What do I do?
Owner must attend to the SPCA offices located at 55 South West Drive S.W. phone 403-526-7722. Proof of ownership required. Impoundment fees are $25.00 for spayed or neutered animals and $50.00 for others. The daily Care and Sustenance fee is $10.00. All fees must be paid prior to release of the animal.
Impounded not claimed within 72 hours become the property of the SPCA and may be adopted, sold or otherwise disposed of.
4. I think someone is trying to defraud me. What can I do?
Contact the Medicine Hat Police Service criminal investigation Section at 529-8420 to make a complaint or ask for Fraud Investigator to receive advice.
If it is an N.S.F. Cheque, contact cheque passer and advise the cheque they provided you has been returned and that they must immediately correct the situation. Do not give any extra time to make a payment ( Do not say "You have until Friday or I am going to the Police" )

5. Someone is stalking me. What can I do?
Record date and time of incident. Write down best detailed description of culprit. Vehicle licence plate number is extremely helpful. Use personal safety techniques to keep yourself safe from a potential attack. Contact police with details to make a complaint. Do not confront the stalker.

Found property may be turned in to any member of the Police Service. Fastest service is to attend the front counter of the Police Station and ask for Property Management unit. Found property that is not claimed may be returned to the finder in many circumstances. This however does not include found bicycles.
10. I think I have been treated unfairly by a member of the Police Service. What can I do?
Members of the public who believe they have been treated unfairly by a member of the Medicine Hat Police Service must contact the Patrol Staff Sergeant on duty by attendance in person at the front counter of the Police Service. The Staff Sergeant will discuss your complaint with you. If you wish to file a formal complaint, a written signed statement is required, prior to your complaint being investigated.
