Tips & Tricks
- Since some of the participants will be riding at night it is a good idea to do some night riding with a headlight system prior to the race, especially on challenging terrain to familiarize you with this type of riding.
- Know how to fix common mechanicals on your bike, for example: flat tires and broken chains.
- Carry a spare tube, hand pump, and mini-tool kit on your bike or person in case you encounter a mechanical while on the course, this may save you a long walk. You may also want to bring a backup light source such as a flashlight just in case! Make sure your bike is in good working order especially your brakes and drive train. Bring chain oil.
- Get plenty of rest prior to the event, because it is a 24-hour event and especially if you are planning on staying at the park, rest will be at a premium.
- The course will be over varied terrain, both on and off roads and paved trails; the event will be restricted to mountain bikes!
- Wear appropriate apparel to keep you warm & dry and make sure you bring enough changes of clothes to allow time for items to properly dry between uses.
- Carry a water bottle or hydration pack while on the course to prevent dehydration. Also bring plenty of high energy snacks and treats to keep you going.
- The course will be approximately 10 kilometres in length and include inclines & declines so train accordingly.
