Stay in school. Grade 12 sounds nice; however, post secondary is more impressive and many of your competitors will have at least some post secondary education.

Obtain high marks, study, make a commitment to learning. Take an interest in reading (the world opens up when you read).

Apply yourself to your English classes. Your writing skills, spelling and transcribing your thoughts will be evaluated and is a critical component of this occupation.

Stay in good physical shape by running and exercising. This builds you physically, and emotionally it builds your confidence and provides better health. Don't smoke.

Be a leader not a follower. All of your decisions should be based on good moral reasoning. Will your actions hinder your chances of becoming a police officer? If you become a positive leader in your community, you will not have time to get in trouble with the law. You can make sound logical decisions.

If you drink, don't drive. Always respect alcohol. Don't make it a problem in your life.

Your morals, values, and attitude will be closely monitored; therefore, wise decisions are in order.

A valid driver's license with a good driving record (no speeding tickets or demerits) is advisable.

It is advisable to always be prepared as First Aid and CPR are required. It is better to have them now, just in case.

Do not get into any conflicts with the law. Always question your action, "Will these actions hinder my chances of becoming a police officer?"
