At 4:23 a.m., July 18, 2004 a 20 year old male was driving his 1983 Toyota Celica west in the alley of the 400 block of 12 St, N.E. (bordering on the schoolyard of Webster Niblock) the vehicle drove onto the grass embankment forcing the car to side slip and that action caused the car to roll. The car continued west and rode up a steel guide wire for a wood power pole. The car became airborne, rotating in mid flight and after colliding with and glancing off the pole, the car was forced back over the alley where it landed on its left side.

A 20 year old male passenger was pinned and was extricated by rescue crews and taken to hospital, and was subsequently released. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was later released on a recognizance to appear in Provincial Court on August 24, 2004. The anticpated charges include driving
avehicle while blood alcohol exceeds 80 mgs, impaired driving, and impaiired driving causing bodily harm. The car is a write off
and damage to the pole has not been assessed. Members of the traffic and patrol sections are still investigating.
