On August 19/04 police observed a semi tractor unit driving erratically and at a high rate of speed along 8th Street and 2nd Ave SW. As police pulled in behind the unit, they noted it weaving in the driving lane, to the point where there was concern it would hit parked vehicles. The vehicle drove for another few blocks before the driver stopped the vehicle in the middle of the roadway, and ran into the residential area. Police pursued on foot but were not able to locate the subject. Investigation has revealed that the tractor unit was stolen from Green Power John Deere of 30th St SW. The tractor unit was disengaged from a flat bed trailer, hotwired and then driven through the chain-link compound fence. Cost of damage at the time of this release is unknown.
