Deputy Chief Position Announced

The Police Commission and Chief Boucher have completed the process for the selection of a Deputy Chief. Inspector Gordon Earl has accepted the position effective March 10, 2005.

Deputy Chief Gordon Earl has been a member of the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) for twenty nine and a half years. Over the past four years, he has been an Inspector with the MHPS Executive Team. Prior to that, he had worked in the Criminal Investigation Section, Crime Prevention Unit, Criminal Intelligence Unit, Drug Unit and Patrols. He was also a member of the Tactical Arrest Control Team and Technical Surveillance Unit.

The selection process to select a replacement Inspector is ongoing and it is anticipated that the new Inspector will be named on or about March 18, 2005. These are exciting times for the MHPS, as the Executive Team is expanding to provide better leadership.

Congratulations to Gordon Earl on his promotion to Deputy Chief.
