On the evening of Tuesday, November 29, 2005, members of the Medicine Hat Police Service Tactical Team executed a search warrant on a house in the 900 block of Ross Street SE, Medicine Hat. The MHPS Special Operations Unit have been involved in an ongoing investigation regarding this residence, its owner and its occupants concerning the production, distribution, and consumption of crack cocaine.

The search by police on Tuesday resulted in the owner and two other individuals being charged. No charges were laid against the eight other individuals located in the house at the time of the search.

Charged are:

Robert Nieman (58 years old) of Medicine Hat

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace Contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
• Two Counts of Breach of Recognizance Contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code

Shelly Christian (27 years old) of Medicine Hat

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace Contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
• Two Counts of Breach of Recognizance Contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code

Logan Irvine (18 years old) no fixed address, previously from Red Deer

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
• Possess Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace Contrary to Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
• Proceeds of Crime Contrary to Section 354(1) of the Criminal Code

Nieman and Irvine were held in custody and will appear in court on 2005 December 1. Christian was released and will appear in court on 2006 January 17.
