On Sept. 07 at approx. 12:11 a 1997 Chrysler being operated by an 89 year old
male lost control and backed into a parked Chevrolet Blazer, the operator then
placed the car in drive and lunged forward, striking two power poles a large
garbage container and finally came to rest against the Co-op building. It is
believed that the operators cane became lodged against the gas pedal causing
the vehicle to rev its engine uncontrollably. The driver received minor
scrapes and bruises while the female passenger in the car received a broken
wrist. Both were transported to hospital via ambulance. Total damage is
estimated in excess of $18,000. Sgt. R. Youngman
