The family of the deceased, 45 year old female doesn't wish the name to be
published so The Medicine Hat Police Service is respecting their wishes. The
driver of the vehicle a 46 year old male is recovering from his injuries in
Foothills Hospital Calgary. The file is still under investigation by the
Traffic Unit.

At approximately 7:07 am this morning a white Ford van, traveling east off the
#3 highway on Gershaw Dr. SW, left the roadway, crossed the median and west
bound traffic lanes and came to rest against a tree in the Hillside Cemetery.
One person was deceased at the scene and another taken to the Medicine Hat
Regional hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigation reveals that there
was only two occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision. The
collision is still under investigation by the Traffic Unit and the
westbound traffic lanes will remain closed for approximately the next three
hours. Sgt. Randy Youngman
