At approximately 9:20 am Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to a reported
explosion at a work site located at 3 st and Briar Pk. Rd. NW. An explosion
had occurred within a cement water vault as a result of an unknown gas
igniting when the worker attempted to cut a piece of metal. A 49 year old man
was transported to hospital to be treated for burn related injuries. The
accident is still under investigation but no foul play is suspected at this
