23:01 hrs., July 31, 2007, the Medicine Hat Police Service, Fire and Ambulance Crews were dispatched to an structure fire at an apartment block in the 0 0 block of Cypress Way S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta.

At least one male and one female adult were transported to hospital for precautions due to smoke inhalation; however, no further serious burns nor injuries were reported.

Preliminary examination appears to conclude that the fire started in a basement suite in the building subsequently damaging the apartments above and adjacent to it.

Damage is estimated to be at a minimum of $150000. Unfortunately many of the dwelling units are no longer livable at this given time; the, 'Red Cross,' has assisted in looking after many of the citizens that have been displaced as a result of this incident. Fire and the Medicine Hat Police Service are continuing to investigate.
