23:34 hrs., July 31, 2007, the Medicine Hat Police Service and Fire Crews (including the Redcliff Fire Dept.) responded to a grass fire in the 600 block of 5th Street S.E., just West of Kingsway Ave.S.E. The fire was successfully contained to the S.E. Hill embankment although it consumed a majority of the prairie grass between Hill Rd.S.E. and the Food Bank.

It is uncertain at this time as to what ignited the blaze, although warm, dry temperatures were obviously a contributing factor. Should anyone have any information pertaining to this incident, please call the Medicine Hat Police Service at 529-8400, or call Crime Stoppers at 529-8477.
