On September 30, 2007 at about 03:15 hours a call came into the Medicine Hat
Police Service of an impaired driver who drove through the barricades in the
area of the recent fires in the 600 block of 3 Street SE in Medicine Hat. The
vehicle narrowly missed hitting two security officers guarding the site. The
vehicle was located a short time later by police on 8th Street SE off of
Kingsway Avenue SE, as it had collided with two parked vehicles. A 26 year
old male is facing charges of dangerous driving, refusal of breath demand and
impaired driving. The total damage in the accident is about $5000.
