At approximately 9:30pm on Thursday, February 28, 2008, Police were called to the 200 blk 3 Street SE in which a male was lying in the middle of the street. Police attended the scene consequently 2 males were taken into custody for questioning.

Subsequent interviews of witnesses and suspects have resulted in Charges of Possession of Weapon Dangerous to Public, and Assault with a Weapon. As a result of an altercation in the middle of the street, the victim, who had been knocked down, was struck by an unrelated vehicle traveling westbound on 3 Street SE. The male on the street was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased name is David Borden PLAYTER (age 26) and has been taken to the Calgary Medical Examiners office for an Autopsy.

Police are not considering this to be a Murder, but a Motor Vehicle Collision Fatality.

Police attended the 200 block of 3 st SE concerning a male person being struck by a car while laying in the street.

We confirm that one male is deceased and his identity at this time is not known.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. Further information will be released as the investigation continues.
