On April 4, 2008 at approximately 9:47 am Medicine Hat Police Service received a call from a male who stated that a hostage taking was going to happen involving weapons, and was going to occur at the downtown YMCA. Police responded and searched the buildings of all YMCA facilities, and found nothing unusual. The investigation is still under way.
