FUNERAL SERVICE FOR CHIEF EARL

A public funeral service for Chief Gordon Earl of the Medicine Hat Police Service will be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Cypress Centre, located at 2055 21st Avenue SE.
Following the service, a regimental will be held at the Hillside Cemetery, located on the corner of 10th Avenue SW and Gershaw Drive.
Members of the public who wish to pay their respect to Chief Earl may do so during a viewing which will be held on Friday, October 17th, 2008 between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm, at the Pattison Funeral Home, located at 540 South Railway Street SE. As well a book of condolences for public signatures will be available in the lobby of the Medicine Hat Police Service, from Wednesday October 15th to Friday, October 17th, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The book will then be presented to the Earl family.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, gifts may be directed to the Chief Gordon Earl Leadership Legacy Fund by way of cheque or money order c/o Insp Wigle, Medicine Hat Police Service. Read more about the Chief Gordon Earl Leadership Legacy Fund.

LEGACY FUND
On October 11, 2008, Chief Gordon Earl passed away at his residence in the presence of his loving wife, Denise. The passing of Chief Earl was a sudden and tragic loss to the family, the citizens of Medicine Hat and the policing community.
Chief Earl was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who recognized the importance of family. When not leading the organization he was always surrounded by his precious family or attending one of his children or grandchildren’s many functions.
Chief Earl was an active leader in the community his entire career. He recognized the importance of partnerships and tirelessly sought out other leaders to collaborate in the development and promotion of programs and strategies that would optimize the quality of life in Medicine Hat, the Province and Canada as a whole.
To celebrate Chief Earl’s contributions to the community and honor his memory, the “Chief Gordon Earl Leadership Legacy Fund” has been established. The fund receives expressions of sympathy and gifts for the establishment of a memorial befitting Chief Earl’s stature in the community.
Anyone wishing to make offerings to the fund may do so by making out a cheque or money order out to the “Chief Gordon Earl Leadership Legacy Fund” and mailing it care of Inspector Wigle, at 884- 2nd Street S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A8H2.
