Fundraising BBQ for The Chief Earl Leadership Legacy Foundation
The Medicine Hat Police Service and the Earl family will be holding a
fundraising BBQ on Saturday, June 13, 2009 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm at the
13th Avenue Co-op in an effort to raise funds for The Chief Earl Leadership
Legacy Foundation.
Chief Earl was an active leader within the community his entire career.
During his time with the Medicine Hat Police Service he was an integral part
of
many departments and programs both within the Police Service and the
community, as he worked his way through the ranks over 33 years.
To celebrate Chief Earl's contributions to the community and to honour his
memory, the Chief Gordon Earl Leadership Legacy Fund was established. The
fund is administered through the Community Foundation of Medicine Hat and Southeastern Alberta and recognizes Grade 6 students that have demonstrated
outstanding leadership skills.
At 12:30 PM, four Grade 6 students, identified from within the two local
school districts, will each be presented with $100 scholarships. The
selected students have all demonstrate the qualities of future community
leaders. Parents of recipients will be encouraged to place the awards into an
existing or newly opened Registered Educational Savings Plan.
Members of the Medicine Hat Police Service will be in attendance with police
vehicles and would like to encourage everyone to come out on June 13th
and support this worthy cause!
