Break & Enter at Royal Beer Store

On the 13 August 2009 at about 1255 AM, a Police Patrol in the down town area heard an audible alarm originating from the area of the Royal Hotel Beer Store located at 126 Southrailway Street SE. As the officer travelled west through an alley approaching the area of the beer store, he observed two males who in turn observed police, take off towards Riverview Park on bicycles.

It was quickly determined the beer store had been broken in to and other patrol units converged on the area of the park. The two males were then seen running across River Road SE towards the river. Patrol officers conducted a search of this area on foot. The two males were located attempting to hide under the train bridge by laying in the shallow water. They were taken into custody without incident.

A backpack was located containing bottles of liquor from the beer store as were the bicycles the suspects were riding. The two males are identified as:

  • Randy Yaholnitsky Age 21 of Medicine Hat
    Charged with:
    Break, Enter & Theft / Breach Probation Order.

  • Justin Yaholnitsky Age 18 of Medicine Hat
    Charged with:
    Break, Enter & Theft, Dealt with traffic warrant from Edmonton.
