On November 9, 2009 at about 2:45PM police responded to an address in the 200 block of Carry DR SE. A resident in this area had his pet threatened by a passing male. Minutes after this the same male broke into a residence on Calder Pl SE. The homeowners were home at the time. A neighbor tried to help the homeowners but the suspect male produced a knife and held it in a threatening manner. Police attended including two canine units and located the male in the area. The male refused to stop and fled with the knife still in his hands. A police Service dog was deployed and engaged the male allowing police to effect the arrest. During the arrest the male tried unsuccessfully to stab the police dog and resisted officers. Additional stolen property from another residential break and enter in this area was also located with the offending male.

Jesse LEDUC, 34yrs of Medicine Hat has been charged with numerous criminal code offences including break and enter, assault with a weapon, possession of weapon dangerous to public peace, utter threats, resist arrest, possess stolen proerty, attempted cruelty to animals and breach of probation.

He is remanded in custody and is next in court on Thursday November 12. 2009.
