Operation Care and Control Update
The Medicine Hat Police Service charged seven persons with impaired driving,
gave two others 24 hour suspensions, and charged another individual for
driving with a suspended license, during the second weekend of Operation Care
and Control. Combined with the statistics from last week so far this
operation has resulted in 18 impaired driving charges and five 24 hour
suspensions.
Operation Care and Control is an aggressive impaired driving initiative
launched by the Medicine Hat Police Service in partnership with the local
chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
The goal of this operation is to reduce risk to the public by arresting
the impaired drivers once they have care and control of a motor vehicle.
Throughout the months of November and December officers will be focusing their
attention around licensed premises including bars, pubs and special event
locations. In addition to these initiatives there will be regular Alberta
CheckStops held throughout the community.
Care enough to save yourself and others. Control your actions to save lives.
Don't drink and drive.
