Feb 1, 2010 - Medicine Hat ALERT team seizes drugs, guns, stolen property
On January 28, 2010, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams CFSEU, with the
assistance of the Leader RCMP detachment, executed two search warrants on a
farmstead in the area of Leader, Saskatchewan in relation to a stolen property
investigation.
Investigators located three all terrain vehicles stolen from the city of
Medicine Hat in 2008, and two unregistered firearms. During the course of
the search, investigators also located and seized approximately three
kilograms of marijuana with a street value of nearly $66,000 and numerous other
items of drug paraphernalia associated to trafficking.
A 47 year old male from the Leader, Saskatchewan area is facing charges
for possession of stolen property over $5,000 (three counts), possession of a
controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of unregistered
firearms, and unsafe storage of firearms.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) is an umbrella organization
established by the Alberta government to integrate the province's most
sophisticated law enforcement resources to tackle serious and organized
crime.
The Medicine Hat CFSEU is part of ALERT, and is made up of investigators from
Medicine Hat Police Service and RCMP.
