Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Ride
The Medicine Hat Police Service and the RCMP have received information that a
gathering of outlaw motorcycle gangs may be planned for this weekend, August
27-29, 2010. Should this event occur there may be an increased presence of
patch wearing outlaw motorcycle gang members present in the Medicine Hat,
Redcliff and surrounding areas.
In a proactive attempt to keep the citizens of this community safe, other
provincial police agencies will be present to assist the Medicine Hat Police
Service and RCMP in monitoring the activities of this group. Although, outlaw
bikers have the same fundamental right to association and peaceful assembly as
any other group, their history of involvement in organized crime activities make them a higher risk to our community's safety.
Past experience with large gatherings of outlaw bikers reinforces the need for
an increased police presence and has proven to be an effective means to
maintain the public's safety.
The citizens of this area have the right to feel safe and secure. It is the
goal of the Medicine Hat Police Service and RCMP, along with our provincial
policing partners, to protect and serve the community and prevent
criminal acts from occurring.
