The Patrol Division
is the Back Bone
of the Police Service.
is divided into 4 Crews that work 12 hours shifts. There are currently 47 sworn members of the Service assigned to Patrols. These members consist of 4 Staff Sergeants, 4 Sergeants and 39 Constables. There are 4 Bylaw Officers assigned to Patrols, with one assigned to each crew. The Bylaw Officers provide support when required and guard prisoners. Each crew has a Staff Sergeant and Sergeant assigned to supervise the operations of the Patrol Crew. The Patrol Crews have a Constable that is assigned a Police Dog (K-9) and is responsible for Patrol and K-9 duties.
is in charge of the crew and is responsible for office operations. S/Sgt. provides guidance and assistance to his street supervisor when required and is also responsible for a varity of tasks. S/Sgt's conduct Bail Hearings for prisoners and also read the paper work submitted by members of the Patrol Crew.
is a street supervisor and is responsible for providing guidance and support for the Constables on the street. The Sgt. is the front line supervisor, who keeps the crew operating efficiently and effectively.

are the work horses of the crew. They respond to all calls for service and are first responders in almost all cases. These Constables are the "Jacks of All Trades" and their duties consist of investigations involving all Criminal Code, Provincial and Municipal Statutes.
has many responsibilities and tasks while conducting their duties. Speciality Units have been established to deal with specific situations or tasks. When the specialized units are unavailable, patrols will deal with the situation, what ever it may be.
Patrols are the back bone of the Police Service.
