Forensic Identification Unit

This Unit consists of one Sergeant, four Constables and one Special Constable.

They provide forensic services for the entire police service. This includes:

Crime scene investigation utilizing photograph and video means. The Forensic Identification Unit of Medicine Hat Police Service is one of the first police agencies in Canada to go fully digital and have been entering digital photographs is court for a number of years.

Evidence: The detection, collection, preservation and correlation of trace evidence.

Latent fingerprint development, identification and classification.

Physical comparisons of two and three-dimensional objects for matching as evidence.

The proper presentation of trace evidence to crime laboratories for further specialized analyses.

Property Exhibits
The Forensic Identification Unit is also tasked with the management of all exhibits seized by members of the Police Service.
